Former Resident Is Buried Here

Funeral services for Mrs. S. D. Campbell of Des Moines, a former Storm Lake resident, who died at Des Moines Friday at the age of 71 years, were held from the Fiscus funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:30. The Rev. J. F. Hutchinson officiated. During the service Mrs. Ralph Sheffield sang two solos, accompanied by Mrs. E. D. Banghart.

The body was laid to rest in the Lake View cemetery here beside that of her husband, William H. Conn.

Bearers were Charles Christensen, Henry Grieme, Fred Grunig, George Mack, Harry Prichard and Ralph Witter.

Flora May Bard, daughter of William H. Bard and Nancy Caldwell Bard was born at Winterset on April 23rd, 1862. She was married to William H. Conn on March 25th, 1877 in Madison county. They moved to Storm Lake in 1882.

To this union six children were born. They are Francis Marion Conn of Madison, S. D., Mrs. W. E. Gaffey who passed away January 10, 1933, Mrs. Rudolph Grunig, who passed away May 2, 1923, Anna Lela who died in infancy, Mrs. Ray Searles of Bainbridge, N. Y. and Ralph Harold of California.

After Mr. Conn's death in 1903, she, with the younger children, moved to Des Moines. On March 20th 1909, she united in marriage with S. D. Campbell, who mourns her death.

An adopted daughter, Mrs. Dorothy McClain of Des Moines, one sister, Mrs. Susan Wilcox of Storm Lake and a number of grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

Those from out-of-town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley McClain and son, Charles, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McClain and S. D. Campbell of Des Moines, Mrs. Nellie Bard and Mrs. Martin Zubradt of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. George Gaffey of Linn Grove and Frank Conn of Madison, S. D.
