William H. Conn

William H. Conn died at his home on Geneso street, Thursday evening, November 3, 1903, after an illness of about five weeks.

William Henry Conn was born in Ohio November 8, 1856. When but a baby his parents moved to Madison County, Iowa. March 25, 1877 he was married to Miss Flora May Bard. Six children were born, one of whom died in infancy.

In 1882 they moved to Buena Vista county and a few years later to Storm Lake. Mr. Conn has been a hardworking industrious man. Being strong, he overtaxed his strength and caused blood to accumulate on the brain. He was taken ill five weeks before his death, and part of that time was delirious and suffered greatly.

His two sisters, Mrs. Mary M. Cregmiles and Mrs. Lizzie Wear of Des Moines, and the two brothers, Winfield of St. Charles, and Ben, of Des Moines, visited him during his illness, but were not here when the final summons came.

His five children, Frank of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Bertha Gady, Mrs. Nellie Lyons, Myrtle and Ralph, were with him at the end and comforted their grief stricken mother.

The funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p. m. The services at the house were under the charge of Rev. Carr. The Knights of the Maccabees, of which order he was a member, conducted the rites at the grave. The body was laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery followed by a large number of sympathizing friends.
