A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, at the United Methodist Church in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 5, at the United Methodist Church, with burial and military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184 to follow in the Winterset Cemetery.

Wayne Eugene Kile, was born November 1, 1930 in Lincoln Township, Madison County, Iowa to Paul W. and Irma D. (Rehard) Kile. Wayne attended several country schools in Madison County and graduated from Patterson High School in 1949. He worked on a farm for Pete Cunningham until being drafted into the United States Army in March of 1951. He served in the Korean War, where he spent a year in Korea and was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge.
His marriage to Lorraine Mitchell took place on December 6, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Winterset and to this union two children were born.
After his marriage, Wayne worked for Doc’s 66 Service Station and the Farmer’s Coop before going to work at the United States Post Office in Winterset. He continued his work at the Post Office for 31 years, the last six as Postmaster, retiring in 1986. After his retirement, Wayne purchased a small farm where he enjoyed raising cattle and working the farm for the next 20 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Winterset American Legion Post #184.
Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine Kile of Winterset, daughter, Peggy (Doug) Lynch of Scottsdale, AZ, son, Michael (Jody) Kile of Des Moines, five grandchildren, Andrew (Julie) Lynch, Stefanie (Chris) Neumer, Misty Lynch, Lindsey Kile (Matt Doherty) and Aaron Kile; four great grandchildren, Sofia & Alexa Neumer and Emma & Jackson Lynch; two brothers, Richard (Bev) Kile of Des Moines, Gail “Tom” (Becky) Kile of Winterset and two sisters, Evelyn Coffman and Norma Shaw both of Winterset and a brother-in-law, Calvin Mealey of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Joan Mealey and Delores Kile (an infant) and two brothers-in-law, Glen Coffman and Cecil Shaw.
