Colleen Morse, Winterset

Colleen Beth (Cordes) Morse, age 87, died January 14, 2016 at her home. She was born April 23, 1928 in Hubbard Iowa to Alfred J. and Dorette (Carlson) Cordes.

Colleen went to school in Eldora Iowa, she married Adolph W.E. Morse on January 1, 1947. They lived in the Des Moines area before moving to Arkansas. After his death Colleen moved to Winterset where she remained.

She loved attending garage sales, quilting and going to breakfast daily with her many friends in Winterset.

Colleen is survived by her daughter, Evelyn (Rudy) Morse Alcorta; grandchildren, Teresa (Robert) Sink, Rudy J. Alcorta and Anitra (Layne) Horn; great-grandchildren, Jessica Sink, James Colton Sink, Alayna Horn and Rudy J. Alcorta, Jr., great-great-grandchildren, Jonas and Jeremiah James; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1987; sister, Beverly Harms in 2016; daughter, Nancy Morse in 1961; brothers, Darrell and Merle Cordes.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21, starting at 1:00 pm at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will occur for two hours prior to the service.
