Deaths

Clark Noble

Clark Noble, son of William and Martha Noble, was born in Madison county, Iowa, near Patterson, on February 21, 1861, and departed this life at his home at the corner of East Second street and LaGrange avenue, on January 8, 1938, aged 76 years, 10 months and 17 days. On July 3, 1881, he was married to Marie Ellen Wells, and to this union five children were born. Two sons preceded their father in death, William having died when only a year old, and Albert Noble died January 20, 1928, at the age of 44 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Noble, soon after their marriage, moved to Van Meter, Iowa, where they lived for four years. They also lived at Plattsmouth, Nebr., for six years and at Valley Junction, Iowa, for three years. In 1894 they moved to Chariton where they have lived for the past 44 years.

Mr. Noble worked for the Stewart and the Elkenberry Lumber and Feed Companies for 9 years. He was janitor at the Chariton East School building for 9 years and worked for the Rock Island Railroad Company for 16 years.

For the past seven and one-half years Mr. Noble has been an invalid.

Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Marie Ellen Noble, a daughter, Mrs. Rosa Borrell, of Chariton, two sons, Arthur Noble, of Evansville, Indiana, and Charles Noble of Des Moines, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Alice Hawkins of Chariton. Another adopted daughter, Mildred, died in 1907. Two brothers, Allen Noble of Des Moines, and Harrison Noble of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, are also living., besides a host of friends.

Mr. Noble was a good husband, a real brother, a kind father, and grandfather, and an accommodating neighbor, an honest and industrious worker, devoted student of the Bible.

Funeral services were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home Monday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. O. O. Hobson, of the United Brethren church and burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
