Larry William Gordon passed away on the evening of January 13, 2016 at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by his family. He lost his 2 plus year battle with cancer, but was made comfortable in his final days and is now at peace.

He was born October 31, 1945 in Oelwein, Iowa. He attended Winterset schools and graduated from Winterset High School in 1964. He started his career at Madison County Secondary Roads in 1965 and worked his way up to shop superintendent over the 45 plus years he was employed there. He married his beloved wife, Mary Bear, in 1982.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Gordon; his father- and mother-in-law, Fred and Vera Bear; and his daughter, Shawn.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Jamie and Nicholas (Erica); his sisters, Dixie (Mike) and Kathy; and his grandchildren, Connor, Gavin, Adrianna, Brayden, and Addison.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 22, at 10:30 A.M. at the Jackson Building at the Madison County Fairgrounds with a luncheon to follow. Family will receive friends 1 hour before the service time.

Memorials may be directed to his family for a
scholarship fund.
