Vanora Mullins, 74, of Indianola died of cancer Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Grandview Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery there.
Mrs Mullins was born in Winterset and had lived in Indianola most of her life. She had been a nurse’s aid for the Indianola Good Samaritan Center, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Warren Encampment and Ladies Auxiliary, where she was past grand matriarch for the state of Iowa and was also a member of the Patriarch Militant Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Torsky of Indianola; a son, Ralph of Des Moines; three brothers, Vernon Benedict of Lake City, Minn, Keith Benedict of Creston and Kenneth Benedict of New Virginia; a sister, Wilma Overton of Seaview, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will meet with friends from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
