Eugene Fox Started His Railroad Career Here

Friends in Hutchinson were shocked to read in the News last night of the death of Eugene Fox, general freight and passenger agent of the M. K. T. railroad who died yesterday at Kansas City. He was a former Hutchinson man and started his railroad work while his father, the late John Fox was Rock Island agent in Hutchinson and later division freight agent for the same company.

Mr. Fox headquartered in St. Louis and became ill when on his way to visit his mother, Mrs. Sabina Fox in Kansas City. He was taken to a Kansas City hospital Saturday and died yesterday.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Josephine Clardy Fox of El Paso, Tex., his mother; two sisters, Eva M. Fox of Kansas City and Sarah Gertrude Fox of Dickerson, Md. and a brother, Leo Fox of Kansas City.

He was with the Rock Island for years and later with the El Paso and Southwestern railroad in different capacities, serving as vice-president in charge of traffic at the time the railroad was sold. For a number of years he was with the Western Pacific but for the past year had been with the M. K. T. with headquarters in St. Louis.
