Robert Dorrell was born near Winterset in Madison county, Iowa October 28, 1855 and died at the home of his brothers, Nicholas and Newton Dorrell, December 13, 1915, aged 60 years, 1 month and 16 days.

His death was due to paralysis of the heart. Apparently he was in the best of health and was helping his brothers in the corn field when stricken instantly by death. He will be sadly missed in the home in which he has so long resided, as he was always willing and ready to help in doing something for others and not for self. He enjoyed going to church often walking a long distance in order that he might attend services.

He leaves to mourn his death, one sister, Sarah Dorrell of East Peru, Ia., two brothers, Nicholas and Newton Dorrell, De Soto, Iowa, and two half brothers, W. C. Dorrell of Winterset, Ia., and George Head, Council Bluffs, Ia.; besides a host of relatives and friends; his mother, father, three sisters and one brother having preceded him to the better world. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. N. D. Gordon of Indianola, Ia. at the home after which the body was laid to rest in the Baptist Cemetery near Winterset.
