Mrs. Anton Clausen was the oldest in a family of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wishmier who lived on a farm south of Van Meter. The date of her birth was May 14, 1880. In Holy Baptism she was given the name Amalia Anna. Reared in the Van Meter community, she became a member of the Lutheran church by the rite of confirmation, and she remained a loyal, devout, consecrated Christian all her life.

On April 5, in the year 1900, she was united in marriage with Anton Clausen who preceded her in death by seven years, departing this life on June 21, 1952. Living for 40 years on different farms south of Dexter, the Clausen family moved to the town of Dexter in the year 1940. The deceased was the mother of six children, one of whom, a son named Henry, died in infancy. The surviving children are Carl, of Ocheyedan; Arthur and Paul of Dexter; Meta (Mrs. Glen Ludwick), of Dexter; and Lenore (Mrs. Everett Algreen), of Pitzer. Surviving mourners, in addition to these children, include eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two brothers: Otto and Henry Wishmier of Van Meter; and two sisters: Mrs. Leona Marquardt and Mrs. Otto Zieman, also of Van Meter.

Seven years ago the deceased suffered a heart attack which confined her to her bed and to a wheel chair since that time. On October 14 she was taken to the Dexter Clinic hospital where she passed away Wednesday evening, October 21, at the age of 79 years, five months, and seven days.

Her funeral service was held Saturday, October 24, in Zion Lutheran church, with Rev. A. C. Weber officiating. The church quartet sang appropriate funeral hymns. Larry Clausen, Robert Morgan, Theodore, David, and Ryan Clausen, five of her grandchildren, and Carroll Marquardt, a nephew were the casket bearers. Her body was laid to rest beside her husband in the Dexter cemetery.
