George Wesley Hogg
George Wesley Hogg, son of William and Elizabeth Hogg, was born February 1, 1852. He was the eldest son of eleven children, seven sisters and two brothers remaining in the family. He was born In Terra Haute, Ind., and moved to Madison county with his parents. He was one of the pioneer settlers.
He was stricken Monday, February 15, while at the breakfast table with apoplexy and was conscious up to Monday, February 22. He was patient and kind through all the intense suffering and passed away February 24, 1926.
Mr. Hogg was united in marriage to Francis Garst, April 5, 1875, and to this union were born ten children, Evelena, Georgia, William and Rosie preceded him in death. Besides the mother, Wessie, of Kansas, Wilbur, Anna, Grover, Clyde and Verdie, all of Peru, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors are left to mourn their loss.
Funeral services were held at the home Friday, February 26, at ten o'clock, conducted by Samuel Howe, of Truro. Interment was made at the Hartman cemetery near Truro.
