Mortuary

Charles Sumner Hazen, son of Rufus and Louisa Hazen was born near McGregor, Clayton county, Iowa, May 12, 1860 and departed this life at his home near Creston, Iowa, June 2, 1931, age 71 years, 20 days. At the age of 5 years he came with his parents, one brother Bion, and sister Phylinda to Jefferson township, Madison county, Iowa, near Van Meter, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.

On October 18, 1885 he was united in marriage with Viola Hiatt. To this union was born three children Gladys E. and Archie L., who survive and Rufus Ralph who died at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, October 23, 1918.

Thirty-eight years ago he moved with his family to his present home in Lincoln township, Union county, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, two children, three brothers, Bion of The Dalles, Oregon, Ray and David of Creston, one sister, Mrs. Anna Crittenden of Thayer, Iowa.

Funeral services were conducted June 4th, Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock at Jerusaleum church and interment made at Evergreen cemetery.
