DONALD C. MILLER, DeSoto, Ia

Donald C. Miller, 82, of DeSoto passed away at his home on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Visitation was held on Thursday, February 5 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Committal service followed at Oakland Cemetery in DeSoto. Cards of condolence may be directed to the family and sent in care of the funeral home. Donald was born December 20, 1932 to Clair and Effie (Kissling) Miller in rural Waukee. He grew up in Dallas County and attended country schools north of Earlham. He attended Earlham High School. On March 19, 1955 he was united in marriage to Leona Phillips in Winterset, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Marty, Gary and Dawn Corrine. The couple made their home in DeSoto. Don worked several years for Iowa plumbers. He was best known for being a backyard mechanic, specializing in fixing Snapper Lawn Mowers. At one time he had 32 Snappers in his garage. He would often mow the neighbors lawn's for them.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dawn Corrine, brothers, Jerry and Dean; and an infant sister, Goldie.

Donald leaves behind his loving wife, Leona; sons, Gary Miller and Marty (Jean) Miller; sisters, Janette (Bob) Clark, Joann (Kenny) Hildebrant and Betty Rinard; grandchildren, Kylie Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Natalie Mitchell and Emily Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
