Page 2RAY M. HERREN DIES IN ARKANSAS
Ray M. Herren, a native of the Macksburg community died Tuesday Jan. 1 at his home near Springdale, Ark. He was 70 years of age.
Mr. Herren was born at Macksburg, July 19, 1893, a son of Fred C. and Allie Mack Herren and spent his early life there. He served in the U.S. armed forces in England and France during World War I.
Following the war he was married to Elma Martin. They made their home on a farm near Presho, S. Dak., until 1934, when they moved to Arkansas. While living in Arkansas, he spent several years working for the Beech Aircraft company in Wichita, Kan., before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Amelia May Jeffus of Newburn, N.C.; two sons, Earl L. Herren and Richard R. Herren, both of Wichita, Kan., and seven grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Coyt and Dean Herren, both of Macksburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Lela Wolfe of Macksburg and Mrs. Floetta Wolfe of Winterset.
Funeral services and burial were held at Springdale.

Page 11, Column 1Springdale — Ray M. Herren, 70, a resident of Rt. 3, died Tuesday night at his home. He was born Jul 19, 1892 at Macksburg, Iowa. He moved to Springdale in 1943 from South Dakota. He was a farmer, a member of the Methodist Church and Veteran of World War I.
Survivors include the widow, Elma of the home; two sons Leslie and Richard of Wichita; one daughter, Mrs. Mae Jeffus of Newberne, N. C.; two sisters, Mrs. Alpha Wolfe, of Winterste, (sic) Iowa and Mrs. Glen Wolfe of Macksburg; two brothers, Coyte and Dean, both of Macksburg and seven grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Callison-Sisco Funeral Homes.
