Donald Clinton Brown was born January 19, 1926 in Oakes, North Dakota, the son of Jefferson and Hazel (Kramer) Brown. He was a 1944 graduate of Lisbon High School in Lisbon, North Dakota and served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Thetis Bay. Following the war, he was united in marriage to Patricia Kiedrowicz on July 26, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

After marriage, Don and Pat made their home in Milwaukee and he worked as a laborer for the Milwaukee Railroad. In 1948, Don moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota to work with his father in the family’s Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. He eventually purchased the bottling company and retired in 1980. Later, he along with several other investors, helped to found the Coffee Cup Fuel Stops, a gas station and convenient store chain, which today has locations in South Dakota, North Dakota and Wyoming.

After retirement, Don and Pat resided in Arizona and spent summers in Mobridge, South Dakota where he enjoyed fishing along the Missouri River. They moved to Winterset in 1994, where he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #8142.

Don enjoyed traveling, fishing and bowling. He was also a runner for many years and loved square dancing. All this said, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved nothing more than time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Brown of Winterset; his children, Tom (Debbie) Brown of Winterset, Patty Brown of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and Steve Brown of South Dakota; a brother-in-law, Bill Jones of Red Oak; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
