Wednesday, April 14, 1943William A. Dillinger, a Madison county resident for the past 11 years, died last Thursday at the home of his son, O. V. Dillinger, near Peru. His death was the result of injuries sustained about six weeks ago when a wagon in which he was riding was hit by a train as it crossed the tracks near Peru. He was 73 years of age.
Mr. Dillinger was born in Greene county, on Dec 25, 1869, the son of James and Nancy Dillinger. He was married there on Feb. 17, 1892, to Etta Eva Libby. They were the parents of four children. One son preceded the father in death at the age of three years.
After his marriage, Mr. Dillinger moved to Page county, living there until 1932 when he moved to Scott township and then later to the Peru neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Robson of Exira, and two sons, Orley and Verl Dillinger of Peru. He also leaves 11 grandchildren. He was the eldest of a family of seven children, but all of them preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Peru Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. W.A. Samp of Winterset. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

Lifelong Farmer Died At Son’s Home In Peru At Age Of 73.
William A. Dillinger, who spent his entire life living on a farm, died at the home of his son, Orley Dillinger of Peru, on Thursday, April 15 at the age of 73 years. Funeral services were in charge of the Ramsey and Richards Funeral Home and Rev. W. A. Samp was the minister in charge. The service was held Saturday and burial was made at Peru.
William Andrew Dillinger, son of James and Nancy Dillinger, was born in Greene County, Iowa on December 25, 1869. He was the eldest of seven children, who, with his father and mother preceded him in death. He lived in Greene County until after he was married.
He was united in marriage to Etta Eva Libby on February 17, 1892. To this union four children were born, Clarence, a son, preceded him in death at the age of three years. He then moved to page County where he resided until 1932 when he moved to Madison County. He has since lived near Peru, spending all his entire life on a farm.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Lois Robson of Exira, Iowa, two sons, Orley Dillinger and Verl Dillinger of Peru, 11 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
