Wednesday, November 24, 1943Mrs. Millie L. Rhyno, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died at the Winterset hospital on Wednesday of last week after a short illness. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Rhyno was a life-long resident of this county. She was born near Peru on January 25, 1861, the daughter of William and Mandy Peacock Beem. She was married March 15, 1888, to Thomas Jefferson Rhyno. They were the parents of one son, Ivil L. Rhyno, who survives.
Most of Mrs. Rhyno's life was spent on a farm near Peru. She was a member of the Elm Grove Methodist church there. After the death of her husband, in 1918, she moved to Peru, then to Truro, where she lived until 1929, and then to Winterset.
She is survived by her son, Ivyl L. Rhyno; a granddaughter, two brothers, Lafe Beem of Normand, N. Dakota, and Grant Beem of Minneapolis, Minn; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ray of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W.A. Samp, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

Page 6, Column 5Mrs. Eldon Beem of Kenmare, N. Dak., who came to attend the funeral of Mrs. Millie Rhyno in Winterset Friday, was a Sunday visitor in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Stevens. She was called to Minneapolis, Minn., Sunday afternoon by the serious illness of her father-in-law.

Mrs. Millie L. Rhyno, aged 82, resident of Madison county all her life, died Wednesday, November 17, at the local hospital. Funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, November 19, with Rev. W. A. Samp in charge. Interment was made in the Peru cemetery.
Millie L. Rhyno, daughter of William Beem and Mandy Heacock Beem, was born near Peru, Madison county, Iowa, on January 25, 1861. She was a member of the Elm Grove Methodist church. On March 15, 1888, she was united in marriage to Thomas Jefferson Rhyno. One son was born to this union. Mrs. Rhyno moved to Winterset in 1929 and remained here the greater part of the time since then. She was a resident of this county all her life.
Mrs. Rhyno is survived by her son, Ivil L. Rhyno of Peru; one grandchild, Garna Rhyno; two brothers, Lafe Beem of Mormand, North Dakota, and Grout Beem of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ray of Winterset, and a niece, Bertha Jones of Winterset, and many other relatives and friends.
________________________Transcriber's notes: Brother "Grout" should be "Grant" and "Mormand, North Dakota" does not exist. Brother Lafe died about two weeks later at Kenmore, Ward, North Dakota.
