James Solomon, a brakeman on Platt’s train, slipped from it as it was moving in Van Meter and several cars passed over his body. He lived but a few hours after the accident.

The funeral was preached in the M. E. church of this place on Tuesday, by Rev. Mr. Patterson. A large number of trainmen were present to pay their last respects to the departed.

The deceased leaves a young wife and two children. James was a son-in-law to J. L. Morse.
