Laura Jane Osborn, daughter of David and Martha Osborn was born in Adams County, illinois, June 14, 1840, and departed this life January 12, 1926, at her home in Lorimor, Iowa aged 85 years, 6 months and 21 days.

Death was caused by toxic goiter of which she had been a constant sufferer for years.

She was married to Lemuel Henderson Chapman in Brown County, Illinois, April 16, 1862. They moved to Madison County, Iowa in 1866 and moved to Lorimor, Iowa October 31, 1888.

Her husband, Dr. Chapman preceded her in death, March 10, 1909. She is survived by one son and three daughters: Mrs. M. M. Lord, Rapids City, South Dakota, K. S. Chapman, Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Nettie McKay, Rosenberg, Texas, Mrs. C.W. Hendrick, Murray, Iowa. All being present at the funeral but Mrs. Lord. Eight grand children and eight great-grand children, one aunt, nearing the century mark, one brother, one sister and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Chapman united with the church in her young womanhood and was a member of the Baptist church at the time of her death. She was the oldest resident of Lorimor having moved here before the rail road was completed and has lived here continuously since. She had the respect of the entire community and a wide circle of friends and will be greatly missed by her neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the late home, at 2:30 P. M., Friday, January 15, 1926. Services were conducted by the Baptist Minister, Rev. Bryden, assisted by Rev. Thompson. Interment was made in the Lorimor Cemetery.
