Sunday, July 04, 1948Reed, Rosa Hannah Jolly, was born near Truro, December 5, 1861 and passed to the Great Beyond at the home of her son, Oscar, in Pleasanton, Iowa, July 4, 1948, aged 86 years, 7 months, 29 days. She grew to womanhood on the farm where she was born and there on March 7th, 1880, she was united in marriage to William Evans Reed. To this union were born four sons, Merton, who passed away in July 1946; Oscar and Ivan of Pleasanton and Don who passed away at the age of two years.
After her marriage she and her husband moved to a farm near Truro where they lived until March 1, 1896, when they moved to a farm near Pleasanton, later moving into Pleasanton where her husband passed away in 1916. She remained in the home until last October when she went to the home of her son, Oscar and wife where she was tenderly cared for.
She accepted Christ as her Savior when a young girl and united with the Methodist Church near Truro, later transferring her membership to the church at Pleasanton. She was always a regular attendant of all the church services until her health began to fail. She has lived a true Christian life and was never happier than when working in the church. She was a lover of flowers and in her home she always had beautiful flowers around her.
She needs no eulogies for her life has been a testimony for her Savior and as we think of her she is not dead but is just gone on to heaven above and is waiting to welcome her loved ones. She loved her children and took great pride in her grandchildren.
