Ethel Mae Strable Lamb, 90, of Winterset died Monday, June 22, 2015, at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25 at Ochiltree’s, with burial to follow in the Montpelier Cemetery, near Patterson.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Winterset.

Ethel Mae Howell was born August 18, 1924 in Truro, Iowa; the daughter of Carroll F. and Maude Mae (Lamb) Howell. She was a lifelong Madison County resident. She was married to Dean E. Strable on February 11, 1942 in Bethany, Missouri and to this union four children were born. Dean died on May 19, 1980 and she later married Charles Lamb on January 15, 1983. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2000.

Ethel was a farmwife and homemaker who raised her children and supported her husband, assisting with the many activities of farm life. She was a great cook, loved flowers and enjoyed shopping. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was active for many years and was especially fond of her work with the Quilters Guild. She was also a member of the Winterset VFW Auxiliary. All this said, Ethel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved nothing more than time spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, Nadine (Ronald) Sparks of Des Moines, David (Oma) Strable of Quinton, OK, Dennis (Melinda) Strable of Ankeny, stepchildren, Linda Shaw, Larry Lamb and Gary Lamb. She is also survived by her siblings, Margaret (Willard) Stanford of Winterset, Jeri Lee of Winterset, Morris (Barb) Howell of Winterset, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, special friend, Liz Hansen of Winterset; extended family and a host of friends.
