June 22, 1966Funeral services for John Lyman Barker, a retired farmer of near Barney, were held Tuesday afternoon, June 21, from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset.
Mr. Barker died last Saturday at Madison County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was 91 years of age.
The son of Carmelius and Amanda Ferguson Barker, he was born October 26, 1874 at Mason county, Illinois. He had lived in Madison county the past 58 years, farming in Walnut township.
He is survived by two brothers, Thomas Groover Barker of Hanvannah, Illinois and Charles Marion Barker of Lincoln, Illinois.
The eldest of seven children, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Officiating at the funeral tuesday were the Rev.'s Jack Douglas and Max Tjoa. Burial was in the Barney cemetery.
