Rachel Ellen McKibben, eldest daughter of William and Nehushta McKibben was born near Earlham, Iowa, on August 15, 1858, and passed away at her home near Macksburg on July 4, 1936, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 19 days, have spent her entire life in Madison county.

On January 27, 1881, she was united in marriage to F. M. Ritter who preceded her in death just 20 days ago.

To this union was born six children, two girls and four boys. The oldest girl, Alice Youngs dying in 1910. The remaining children are, Lloyd, Ernest and Etta Huss who reside near home and Clarence and Carl of California, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Two sisters and one brother also survive, Mrs. Anna Bast, of N. Dakota; Mrs. Lizzie Orahood, of Redfield, Iowa, and Jesse McKibben, of Earlham Iowa; one brother having preceded her in death.

Raised from childhood in the Friends church she always held that belief.

She was a kind and loving mother and wife, a good neighbor and leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss, having lived in the present home for 32 years.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 6 at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church in Macksburg by Rev. Summerbell and burial at the Moon Cemetery.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse McKibben of Eariham; Mrs. Lizzie Orahood and Mrs. Mary Williams and daughter Virginia of Redfield; Mrs. Lucille Smith of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ritter of Ft. Dodge and Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Ritter of Winterset.

MRS. F. M. RITTER DIED ON JULY 4, 20 DAYS AFTER HUSBAND’S DEATH

Mrs. F. M. Ritter died at her home southwest of here, Saturday, July 4th, after an illness of several months. Mr. Ritter preceded her in death twenty days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Monday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by Rev. M. D. Summerbell and burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
