Mrs. Elizabeth Ritter passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Belle Birge, 905 North Cherry Street at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

She was first taken ill with the lung fever and Sunday she suffered a stroke of paralysis. She was not thought to be serious until that time, a physician was then called and illness and old age was greatly against her chances of improving. She suffered the second stroke Tuesday and a clot formed on her brain, which resulted in her death.

Deceased was born at Moorsville, Indiana, November 12, 1834, and was 79 years, 4 months and 6 days old at the time of her death. She was married to Elija Ritter, November 13, 1859, at Mooresville and she and her husband came to Earlham, Iowa in 1874 where they made their home until the spring of 1882, when they moved to Macksburg. Her husband proceeded her in death, passing away twenty-one years ago. The deceased came to Creston ten years ago and has made her home with her daughter since.

She leaves eight children, one brother to mourn her death. The children are: Mrs. Mary Carpenter, Waldron, Missouri; Mrs. Lucinda Gowen, Paullia, Washington; Marian Ritter, Macksburg; Isaac Ritter, Lebanon, Kansas; Mrs. F. N. Hughes, Independence, Missouri; William Ritter, Hepburn, Iowa and her brother Charles Mendenhall of LaCrosse, Kansas.

Mrs. Ritter has made many friends while residing in this city. She was a fine old Christian lady and her sunny disposition won her many true friends who join with the family in mourning her death. She united with the Evangelical Church in 1880 and has lived a noble life.
