Page 1, Column 2Lydia James Abrams died on July 20th, at her home in Winterset, following a long illness. Mrs. Abrams made her home for fifty years on the farm where her girlhood days were spent. Her husband, D. J. Abrams, died about a year ago.
She is survived by one son, John Abrams and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Wight and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Frank C. McCallon. Interment was made in Winterset Cemetery.

Lydia James, daughter of Benjamin and Mary James was born April 11, 1843, Madison county, Indiana, and died at her home in Winterset, July 20, 1924. When ten years of age she moved with her parents to Winterset and located on a farm known as their old homestead where she spent her girlhood days and fifty years of her married life on the one farm.
She was married to D. J. Abrams February 25, 1864. To this union were born five children, Wm. Oliver. Who died in infancy; Mary Hannah who died in infancy; Leona Bell, departed this life at the age of twenty-five; John of Winterset and present at this service, also Mrs. Clara Wight and grandson, Wallace Wight. Mr. Abrams departed this life March 1923.
Sister Abrams united with the Church of Christ when about thirty years of age under the preaching of Elder Henry Davis of North River. Sister Abrams was a faithful member of the church and attended whenever able as her interest in the Kingdom never slackened.
She leaves to mourn her departure, one son, one daughter, one grandson, and nephew Floyd James; two half brothers, Almon James of Winterset and Ammon James of Redfield; one half sister, Mrs. Martha Bishop, of Oklahoma, and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday by Rev. F. C. McCallon of the Church of Christ.
