Macksburg – Death of Willis Mobley

Willis Mobley, a resident of Grand River township for 70 years, died at this home in Macksburg on Friday, November 2. He had been in poor health for about a year but it was just recently that his condition became worse. The Rev. Eugene Alexander conducted the funeral services at the Methodist church, Sunday morning at 10:30 o’clock, and burial was in the Macksburg cemetery. The Woman’s Relief Corps. Assisted with the funeral services and World war soldiers were pall bearers.

Mr. Mobley was born in North Carolina, February 28, 1847; he was 81 years of age. He was a member of the J. D. Craven Post, G.A.R, having enlisted at he age of 17 years. He was married to Emily Ann Stewart November 11, 1868, and if he had lived nine more days they would have celebrated their 61st anniversary. To this union were born five children: Mrs. Ada Shoemaker, of Orange, California, Daisy Hower, of Creston; Charles of Macksburg; Mary Knight, of Bakersfield, California, and Minnie Hann, of Burlington, Colorado. He also leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, five children, on brother, six grandchildren and a host of friends.
