Death of James Howell

James Howell, who formerly lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Howell, northeast of Patterson, was found dead in his home in Flagler, Colorado, on Tuesday, May first. The cause of death was given as acute indigestion. Mr. Howell had made his home in the west since 1886. He was the brother of George and Miss Ida Howell, who live on the home place near Patterson.

The body was shipped to Van Meter, from where it was taken to the home of the sister, Ida Howell. Funeral services were conducted on Friday and burial was at the Mt. Pelier cemetery.

The obituary gives the facts of his life as follows:

James, third son of Nelson and Margaret Howell, was born in Astoria, Illinois, on December 26, 1856 and died at his home in Flagler, Colorado, on Mary, 1, 1928, being 71 years, 4 months and 5 days old.

In 1865, the family moved to Madison county, at which place the late Mr. Howell lived until in 1886, he with his brother John, moved to Colorado, where he took up a homestead and where he resided until his death.

The deceased leaves to mourn his death, two sisters, Mrs. J. S. Smith, of near Van Meter, and Miss Ida, of Patterson; three brothers, Dave and George D. of Patterson, and Arthur, of near Truro, and a large number of nephews and nieces.
