Mrs. James Ackelson, who had been in poor health for several months, died at her home near Peru, Saturday, August 11. She was fifty-nine years of age.

The obituary is as follows:

Josie Ann Ackelson was born in Madison county, Iowa, February 2, 1869. Her girlhood was spent in Scott township, near Winterset. She was married to James Ackelson, on Christmas day, 1887. to this union were born 13 children, three died in infancy and one son, Earl, passed away in 1925, and Clifford in September, 1927. Those living are Mrs. Bertha Leasman, of Barney; Mrs. Pearl Rankin, of Mitchellville; Emory, of Peru; Forest of Newton; Mrs. Millie Miller, of Greenfield, and Ilot, Harold and Madeline in the home.

Since her marriage she had lived on a number of different farms in the county. Soon after her marriage she united with the Christian church, at the Buffalo school house, when S. J. Callison was holding meetings there. She later attended at different churches near her home.

She had been in failing health for several years and had been bedfast since last January. She was a faithful sufferer and clung bravely to life and to her family until her death on August 11, 1928, at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 9 days.

She leaves besides her husband and children, her mother, Mrs. Jerry Moore, of Winterset, four sisters and three brothers. Rev. R. J. Cook conducted the funeral services in the Peru M. E. church, Monday morning, August 13, and the interment was in the Peru cemetery.
