PAUL BINDEL- Winterset
Dec. 20, 1947 - May 2, 2015

Paul Bindel, 67, of Winterset, Iowa, died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 6, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Dr. John Shaull officiating. As per his request, his body has been cremated with the cremains being interred with military honors at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, Iowa.

Paul was born on December 20, 1947, at Madison County, Iowa to George and Ruth (Mink) Bindel. He grew up in the Winterset area and was a 1966 graduate of Winterset High School. In 1968 Paul joined the United States Navy and served during the Viet Nam Conflict. Shortly before his discharge, he married Connie Fish on July 5, 1969 at Winterset. Paul had been a lifetime resident of Madison County and had been a lifelong carpenter, belonging to union Local 106.

Paul is survived by his wife, Connie Bindel of Winterset; son, Trevor (Heidi) Bindel of Winterset; daughter, Kerry (Jason Hoopes) Wood of Des Moines; and special member of the family, Rodney Holliday of Ankeny; brothers, G.W. Bill (Jacky) Bindel of Pocahontas and James (Charis) Bindel of Winterset; sisters, Katherine (Dale) Hartman of Winterset and Mary Kinney of Griswold; and grandchildren, Libby Bindel, Lane Bindel, Kaylee Wood, Jordan Hoopes, and J.J. Hoopes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth (Mink) Bindel and infant twin brothers.

family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to his family for a future designation.
