FLOSSIE SWEARINGEN DODD

Flossie Jane Swearingen was born Jan. 18, 1894 on the old farm homestead, where she passed away Nov. 14, 1918, at the age of 24 years, 9 months and 27 days.

Flossie joined the Truro Christian church at the age of 8 years and since that time her life was closely devoted to Christian work, especially the Sunday school and Christian Endeavor. It was her ambition to bring up her two boys in the Sunday school and church and almost her last words were: "Oh, that I might live to bring up my boys, George, I know you'll take care of them and bring them home to me".

She was united in marriage to Geo. W. Dodd, March 3, 1915 at Boone, Ia. They have lived in Norwalk and on the farm near Truro ever since. Max Eugene was born Jan. 7, 1916 and Joe Charles on July 26, 1918.

To know her was to love her and a host of friends will mourn her early death. Truly her life is a worthy example of Christian motherhood and wifehood, and all will remember her as that type of womanhood which always enriches the lives of those about her. The remains were laid to rest in the Young cemetery.
