Cash N. Downs, a life-long resident of the St. Charles community, died Tuesday Sept 2, at his home there. He was 58 years of age. He had been ill for several months with cancer. Mr. Downs was born at St. Charles, May 19, 1897, a son of Frank and Zella Downs. He spent his active life as a carpenter and in the contracting business. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ, the Masonic lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

He was married May 21, 1918 at St. Charles to Beulah Thomas, who survives him. He also leaves his mother; a son, Paul Downs of St. Charles; three grandchildren; four brothers, Carl, Don and Dwight Downs of St. Charles and Rex Downs of Boxholm; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Crawford of St. Charles and Mrs. Florence Eichner of Booneville. Funeral services were held Sept 5, from the St. Charles Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. Fred Evans. Burial was made in the St. Charles Cemetery.
