Donald Duane Bittinger, 58, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2015, at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at Grace Church, 4200 East 25th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 5- 7:00 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be held at a later date at Masonic Cemetery.
Don was born December 14, 1956, in Winterset, IA, the son of Irvin "Shorty" and Mary Bittinger. He graduated from Indianola High School and attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA. Don met Cindy Overton in 1976 and they were married in 1979. He worked at the Indianola Record Herald in advertising sales. More recently, he was a delivery driver for Fed Ex. They have two children, Zac and Josh. He was deeply devoted to his family. Don was an active member of Grace Church. He loved both the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers, but his first love was for his Lord, which he openly shared with others.
Don is survived and fondly remembered by his wife, Cindy; children, Zac and Josh; sisters, Kay (Jack) Huffman, Sue (Ron) VanVleet; brother, Jerry (Lynn) Bittinger; in-laws, Don and Jo Ann Overton, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be given to his family for continued support of his children.
