Charles William Critz
Charles William Critz, the son of Christopher Arlington and Edith LaVonne (Brand) Critz, was born on December 4, 1939 in Easton, Minnesota. Charles entered eternal rest on March 7, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa at the age of seventy-five years, three months, and three days.
Charles graduated from Truro High School with the Class of 1958. He entered the Air National Guard of Iowa on November 19, 1960 and served six years until his honorable discharge on November 18, 1966. In June, 1962, Charles married Patricia Ann Fouche in Osceola and this union was blessed with two children: Kelly and Tonya. Charles and Patricia later divorced.
Charles lived in Creston most of his adult life. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for forty-two years. He inspected bridges and was a survey coordinator. He also was an instructor for the D.O.T. Advanced Survey School in 1993 and 1994.
Charles was a former member of the Elks. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He also loved building purple martin bird houses. Charles traveled to Canada every year to fish; and most recently traveled to Missouri to fly-fish. Charles loved his German Shorthair dog, Rocky and his cat, Baby.
Left to cherish Charles’ memory are his children: Kelly (wife Polli) Critz, Orient; and Tonya Critz-Hauser, Eldora; his two sisters: Shirley (husband Jim) Harold, Milo, IA; and Connie (husband Chuck) Morris, Indianola, IA; his brother-in-law: Ed Swan, Des Moines; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Charles in death are his parents; and his sister, Betty Swan.
