Elsie (McKinney) Manning, 92, of Adel died Monday, March 9, 2015, at Mercy West Lakes Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Visitation will take place prior to the service at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for macular degeneration research.
Elsie Manning was born Feb. 15, 1923, in St. Charles, Iowa, to Luther and Alma McKinney. Her marriage to Bert Manning took place on Aug. 20, 1939, in Winterset. They were married for 67 years until Bert passed away in 2006. Elsie had been a homemaker for many years and took pride in caring for her eleven children. In addition to living in Adel, she was a longtime resident of Van Meter and Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; son, Tom; and two brothers, Paul and Earl McKinney.
She is survived by her 10 children: Janet (Gene) Zika, Wayne (RuthAnn) Manning, JoAnn (Lee) Berry, Susan (Dwaine) Thompson, Stephen (Kathy) Manning, Joe (Kathy) Manning, Peg (Jim) Herman, Randy (Barb) Manning, Polly (Larry) Brandt, and Angel (Mark) Davis; brother, Larry (Darlene) McKinney; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
