GAILEN L. FOREMAN, Winterset

June 12, 1937 - March 11, 2015

Gailen L. Foreman, 77, of Winterset died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present at this time to receive friends.  Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 16 at Ochiltree Funeral service with burial to follow in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg.

Gailen Lee Foreman, the son of Dale and Orpha (Younkin) Foreman, was born June 12, 1937 in Osceola, Iowa.  He graduated from Macksburg High School in 1955.  He was married to Shirley Wheeler and four daughters were born to this union.

He was a self-employed feed salesman and later worked at the Macksburg/Afton Co-op. Gailen was united in marriage with Barbara Kay Stalcup, July 23, 1994 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church.   He was a member the Afton Archery Club as well as a Men’s and Mixed Bowling League. Gailen was a pitcher for a Men’s Fast Pitch League. He coached the Macksburg Little League Softball Team when his daughters played.  Gailen participated and received a trophy for Donkey Softball and Basketball that was held in Macksburg.  He was passionate for Golf and spent numerous hours on the Lakeshore Country Club Golf Course.  He treasured spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and his beloved wife, Barb.

Gailen is survived by his wife Barbara Foreman of Winterset; four daughters: Deb (Bennie) Shinn of Orient, IA, Sherri (Rod) Ray of Orient, IA, Chris (Dave) Weeks of Macksburg, IA, Pam (Jessy) Shady of Macksburg, IA; step-son Troy (Julie) Moore of Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; brothers: Don (Betty) Foreman of Nixa, Missouri, Merlin (Pat) Foreman of Merino, CO, Alan (Nancy) Foreman of Alamogordo, NM; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of fiends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandsons Cade and Conner Ray in infancy; brother Dale Jr. Foreman in infancy; mother-in-law Mary Stalcup; and sister-in-law Jerri Foreman.
