Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Flora Wilson-Pinkerton at the home of her daughter in Oklahoma City on September 3rd.

She was born on her parents’ farm south of Earlham on June 11, 1858, the daughter of Milton and Sara Jane Murphey-Wilson, who were pioneers from Indiana, buying their broad acres from the government. And because she was the only baby in the new country for miles around she was known as “Pet” by everyone.

In 1877 she was united in marriage to C. M. Pinkerton who had schools here in Earlham. He later was superintendent of schools in other towns in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

In 1910 the family moved from Des Moines to Oklahoma City where her husband preceded her in death in 1920. Since then she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Larinia Pinkerton-Dennis. She is also survived by a son, Judge Paul Pinkerton of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and by another daughter, Blanche Pinkerton-Jones of Wilmette, Illinois. Three other children, Cecil, Lawrence and Bernice have gone on before. There are also twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A few years ago she was able again to attend the Wilson Reunion and to meet many old friends of other days. Her brother, I. K. Wilson, a former editor of this paper, now of California who was here in June spent her 80th birthday with her on his return trip. Her sister, Mahala Wilson, also lives in Los Angeles.

At the Iowa picnic held on Labor Day in Oklahoma City the whole assembly stood for a moment in silent respect and love to her memory.
