PERSONAL ITEMS FROM VAN METER

Mrs. Lloyd Brown died Thursday, December 26th, at her home in Adel after a two weeks illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Brown who was the former Miss Hazel Shoults, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shoults spent her entire life in this community, and her sudden passing was a great shock to her many friends here.

She was born in Jefferson township, Madison county, November 7th, 1903. After completing the eighth grade in the country schools she entered the Van Meter high school from which she graduated in the class of 1922. She attended the State University a year and then taught two years in rural schools.

On September 16, 1925, she was married to Lloyd Brown. They resided here until two years ago when they moved to Adel. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Elizabeth Ann, eight years; Hazel Lloydene, five years; one son Ronald Elliott, 1 year; her parents and one sister, Nellie Shoults.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Adel on Saturday afternoon conducted by the Rev. E. A. Elliott of Des Moines. Burial was in the Adel Cemetery. Many from here attended the services.
