ALICE BLANCHE GRACEY, Truro

Alice Blanche Gracey, daughter of Fred Albert Soper and Flossie Lettice (Rood) Soper was born November 17, 1921 in Dow City, Iowa and passed from this life Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at West Lakes Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at 93 years of age.

She was united in marriage to Foss M. Gracey on June 4, 1946 at Hiawatha, Kansas and 4 children blessed this union.

Alice worked as a seamstress for Snowdons in Osceola for many years. She was a member of the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ and taught Sunday School there for nearly forty-two years. She was also a member of the Jolly Fu for 2 years when she decided she wanted to join Thursday Girls to make quilts.

Alice formed the Truro Cub Scouts as a "den mother", a position she held from 1960-1982. She was one of the first "First Responders" in Truro and she was chosen to serve as Parade Marshall in 2009. She felt very honored to be able to serve the Truro Town and Country Celebration. She was a very faithful member of the Truro Lions Club and UCC Church.

Those relatives who preceded Alice in death were her parents; husband, Foss; daughters, Dedra J. Gracey and Dixie Nicholson; brothers, Lewis Soper and Wayne Soper; sisters; Ruth King, Grace Chumbley, Vera Hupton, Aldora Tripp and Eula Jean West,

Alice leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Diana J. (Galyn) Bedwell of Norwalk, IA, son, Danny J. (Gail) Gracey of Wakefield, RI, sister, Nellie Critz, brothers, Max "John" (Audrey) Soper of Indianola, IA, William (Charlotte) Soper of Lincoln, NE, grandchildren, Cory Gracey of Everett, WA, Shawn Gracey of Des Moines, IA, Megan (Paul) Kingery off Des Moines, IA, Kirk Bedwell of Indianola, Ia, Amy (Barry) Tlach of
Prole, IA; 11 great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be directed to The Truro Congregational United Church of Christ or the Truro Public Library.
