Mrs. John C. Thompson, of De Soto, a former resident of Madison county, died last Friday, November 22. Had she lived 17 more days she would have been 77 years of age.
Mrs. Thompson was formerly Nancy Jemima Clark, and was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, December 13, 1852. When she was seven years of age she came with her family to this county. On June 11, 1873, she was married to John Calion Thompson. They were the parents of seven daughters, all of whom are living, The family has many acquaintances in Winterset and Madison county.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband and daughters, Mrs. Betty Miller, of Adai; Mrs. Carrie Link, of Ames; Mrs. Sarah Deakin, of Des Moines; Mrs. Stella Smith, of Springfield, Missouri; Mrs. Georgia Bond, of Great Falls, Montana; Mrs. Iris Doud and Mrs. Neil Anderson, of Des Moines. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in De Soto, Sunday afternoon, November 24th, and burial was made at the Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.
