Violet Lorraine Myers

Violet Lorraine Myers, was born on April 8, 1927 to Charles Earnest and Mabel E. (VanOrdstrand) Swisher in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at home at 86 years of age.

She was the oldest of four children and the only girl. She attended school in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from North High School.

She was united in marriage to James R. Myers on December 24, 1944. They had 4 children and were married for 56 years before Jim's passing in 2001.

Violet worked for many years in the insurance industry and last as an underwriter with Fireman's Fund Insurance until their Des Moines office closed in the 1960's. The family had moved to Truro, Iowa in the late 1960's and she remained there until her passing.

Violet loved the outdoors and wandering the timber around her home, working in her garden, watching and listening to the birds and other wild animals. She was always very interested in listening to all the things her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had to tell her. She loved to watch and support them in any endeavors they wanted to pursue.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 daughters, Karla Kay in infancy, Sandra Mickle; brothers, Robert, Charles, and Edward.

Violet leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Ruth (Bud) Sorter; son, Roger (Rhonda) Myers both of Truro, IA; 7 grandchildren, Jerry (Katrina) BarronMiller, Karla K Crawford, Dawn (Mark) Woods, Amy (Greg) Bassett, Kristina Myers, Katie (Ryan) Sherlock, Kyle (Kaitlyn) Myers, 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Myers family.
