Dr. Stephen A. Holt, D.O., 66, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2014, at his home near Redfield.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Mar. 29, at Ochiltree’s Funeral Service. Stephen has been cremated. Memorials may be directed to the family to determine the best use at a later time.
Stephen Allan Holt was born Mar. 16, 1948, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Harl and Darlene (Ross) Holt. He graduated from Fox Valley High School in Milton, Iowa, and attended college at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville. He received his medical education at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating in 1974. Dr. Holt completed his residency in General Surgery at Des Moines General and his residency in Urology at the University of Nebraska. He was Board Certified in Urology and since 1985 practiced with the Des Moines Urological Clinic. While working with the Des Moines Urological Clinic, Dr. Holt traveled extensively throughout central Iowa treating patients in many rural hospital’s specialty clinics.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Harl and Darlene Holt; and a sister, Jane Ann Wells.
He is survived by his four children, John (Joan) Holt of Charlotte, NC; Phillip (Brenda) Holt of Winterset; Melissa Anderson (Nick Millsap) of Johnston; and Chris (Suné) Holt of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; a sister, Vicki (Steve) Kinnamon of Savannah, Iowa; four grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.
