Betty Joyce Scrivner

Betty Joyce Scrivner, daughter of Richard and Mary Ella Wright was born January 4, 1934 in Wythe County, Virginia and passed from this life Monday, March 31, 2014 at her home in St. Charles, Iowa at 80 years of age.

Betty graduated from Fairfax High School. She was united in marriage to Paul Scrivner on April 12, 1952 at Annandale, VA. Paul and Betty made their home in the St. Charles, Iowa area where Betty helped Paul in his electrical business, doing the bookkeeping and secretarial work. She continued that roll when their grandson took over the business several years ago. Later years Betty taught ceramics and babysat for her great grandchild Wava.

Those relatives who preceded Betty in death were her parents, Richard and Mary; brother, William R. Wright; brother in law, Ivan Edward Scrivner, sister in law, Helen Ruth Scrivner, brother in law, Joe Scrivner, brother in law, Gene Scrivner, brother in law, Grant Scrivner, and sister in law, Ruth Smith.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory; husband of nearly 62 years, Paul Scrivner of St. Charles; daughter, Sheila (Cecil) Norris of Smyrna, TN; grandson, Ryan (Kara) Norris of St. Charles, Iowa, granddaughter, Kristen (Randall) Hinkle of Okema, OK, Great-Grandchild, Wava Norris of St. Charles, IA, Great-Grandchild, Carter John Hinkle of Okema, OK, brother, Weldon Jackson (Catherine) Wright of Lorton, VA; brother in law, Charles Scrivner of Springfield, IL, sister in law, Mary Peak of Knoxville, IA, sister in law, Lois Burt of Cedar Rapids, IA, sister in law, May Ewart of AZ, Sister in law, Sue Wright of Falls Church, VA as well as other relatives and many friends.

Cremation was arranged by Kale Funeral Home and no services are scheduled at this time.

Memorials may be directed to her family to be decided later.
