BLAKE SANDROCK, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Blake William Sandrock, 51, of Cedar Rapids, IA died March 14, 2014 at Hospice of Mercy in Hiawatha, IA with family at his side. Blake was born April 11, 1962 in Youngstown, OH the son of Ruth Ann Sandrock of Burlington, IA and Dr. Austin R. Sandrock of Fountain Hills, AZ.

He attended Burlington Community District schools and graduated from Burlington High School Class of 1980, and is a graduate of Coe College 1984. Blake was previously married to Lynette Johnson and they were the parents of a son, Nathaniel Charles Sandrock. Blake was a teacher and coach in Port Sulfur, LA, worked construction, and was employed at a legal office in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed gardening and particularly growing tomatoes which he shared, camping, playing golf and was a Cubs fan.

Surviving him are his mother, Ruth Ann; his father, Austin (wife, Carole); son, Nate; brother, Todd (Sandy); niece, Jennifer Wolfe (Dan) and nephews, David, Eric, and Jacob Sandrock.

Blake is a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1221 Park Ave., Burlington, IA where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 11:30 AM with lunch following at the church. A memorial has been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Youth Group. As a teenager, Blake was an active member of the Youth Group's Clown Ministry. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset, IA.

BLAKE SANDROCK, BURLINGTON

An inurnment service for Blake William Sandrock will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, at 2:00 p.m. in the Winterset Cemetery at the Charles and Grace Mills and the Sandrock grave sites. A landmark for that area is the Soldiers’ Monument. Turn left on the second cemetery road off the main entrance road and head back north toward the Soldiers’ Monument. The grave sites are close to 3/4 of the way down that road and on the right hand side (grouping of three dark gray/black granite grave stones) and to the east a couple of rows.

Officiating will be Pastor Kevin and Pastor Sue Blader, Winterset First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Blake is the grandson of Charles and Grace Mills and the son of Ruth Ann Mills Sandrock of Burlington, Iowa, and Dr. Austin Sandrock of Fountain Hills, Ariz.
