Albert B. Barnett was born in Clinton county, Ohio, June 29, 1828. He died at his home in Stuart, December 14, 1904, being 76 years, 5 months, and 15 days old. With his parents, William and Mary Barnett, he moved to Marion county, Indiana, when three years old. In 1851, he was united in marriage with Jane Reece. In 1855, with his family and father, he came to Adair county, Iowa. Later, he moved to Madison county, where he lost his wife, leaving him with three children. In 1867 he married Eliza J. Fee. Twelve years ago, with his wife and daughter, Ella L., he came to reside in Stuart.

He was afflicted with paralysis for the past two years, but was confined to his bed only the last two weeks. During his afflictions he envinced a sweet, tender spirit, lamenting the fact that his helplessness made him such a care to others.

Last August he united in membership with the Congregational church. His affliction, however, prevented his attendance at services. He often regretted he had not, while in health, made better use of his church privileges, saying he looked upon those things now differently than he once did. He said he felt all was well with his soul and was not afraid to meet his creator.

He leaves a widow, two sons, a sister, six brothers and a host of friends to mourn his departing.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the Friends church in Earlham, conducted by the pastor, Charles S. White. Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery.
