Charles Edward Foster, oldest son of Lewis and Mary Ann Foster, was born in Illinois, July 4, 1853 and departed this life at his home in Peru, July 3, 1923, at the age of 70 years.

He was united in marriage to Miss Emma L. Meader. To this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters. One son, Vernon, departed this life when a lad of eight years.

Those left to mourn his loss are his loving and faithful wife, his son Milton, his daughters: Mrs. William Monroe and Mrs. Ora Simmons of Peru and Mrs. C. W. Hengen of California; also 11 grandchildren. He leaves one brother, Burt Foster of Marshalltown, and two sisters, Mrs. Arvilla Hiatt of Peru and Mrs. Burt Delaplain of Jefferson, and a number of other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
