St. Charles

Harrison Shutt died very suddenly last Friday morning. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church Monday by Rev. Gans and the remains were laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery by the side of his wife, who preceded him to the great unknown several years ago.

He leaves three brothers Jeff and Dave of this place and Frank of Lambert, Okla., and one sister, Mrs. Clinton of California; also three sons and three daughters.

ST CHARLES

Harrison Shutt died at his home in St. Charles, Iowa, October 6, 1922, after a very short illness. He was 77 years, 9 months and 26 days old. He was married to Nancy Catherine Black, July 23, 1865. To this union was born seven children, Ella Romine, of New Virginia, Anna Picken, who died last April; Henry Shutt, Ollie Van Rossum, Will Shutt, of near St. Charles; Lizzie McGinnis, of Wyoming; and John Shutt of Ohio. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Clanton, of California, three brothers, Jeff and Darr, of St. Charles; and Frank, of Lambert, Oklahoma, also twenty-six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was a member of the United Brethren church. They moved to a farm southeast of St. Charles in 1870 where they lived until the death of his wife, February 23, 1913. After the death of his wife some of they children lived with their father for a while, then he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Ollie Van Rossum until he moved to town.

The funeral services were held October 9th in the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Gans of the Christian church. All his children were present at the funeral. Interment was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
