Death of Margaret Miles

Little Margaret Miles, whose critical condition from diphtheria was reported in last week’s issue of the Madisonian, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Miles on April 20th. The child, bright and attractive, was much loved by her many friends, and her death was a great sorrow to them.

Brief funeral services were held Friday at the Winterset cemetery conducted by Rev. E. B. Chancellor.

Margaret Jessie Miles, daughter of Blaine and Bessie Miles, was born on Sept. 25, 1916 and died April 20, 1922 Her sickness at first appeared to be a light form but developed into diphtheria, and even though all was done that love and skill could do, she passed away Thursday morning at 5 o’clock.

Because of her bright and happy disposition she had a large circle of little friends. She was in the first year of public school and was a member of the Beginners’ Class of the Church of Christ Sunday school. This unexpected sorrow brought grief in the community as well as in the home.

She leaves to hold her memory, father, mother, brother, sister, three grandparents, a great grandmother and other relatives.

The sympathy of the community was beautifully expressed by the attendance at the services at the grave and the many floral offerings that were profused about the open grave. The brief services were conducted by Rev. E. B. Chancellor of the Church of Christ Friday morning.
