Pg 3Margaret Matilda Pruitt was born June 13, 1912 at Doe Run, Mo., where her father was pastor of the Methodist church at that time. Her parents removed to Iowa, and her second year was spent in the West Star community, near Winterset. The next two years were spent at Paton, where her father was serving as pastor. The remainder of her life has been lived at Grand Junction, her parents having located there.
Though only in her tenth year, Margaret had endeared herself to all who knew her. She was a bright girl in school and loved her Sabbath school. She was a loving sister to the younger children in the home, being the oldest of five. William, Melville, Ruth and J. Jr. are feeling, at a very tender age, the loss of a sister. Margaret was sick only a week with bronchial pneumonia, and passed away Feb. 8th.
Services were held at the home on the morning of Feb. 9th, after which the body was brought to Winterset, accompanied by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pruitt; Rev. Robert Pruitt, of Nebraska, and Mr. and Mrs. Furnas Pruitt of Grand Junction. At the Winterset cemetery, they were met by many sorrowing relatives and friends. Services were conducted by the Grand Junction pastor, Rev. Paul Hillman, assisted by Rev. Jackson Giddens.
