Lewis Joel Berry was born in Madison county, Iowa, June 3, 1875 and departed this life Jan. 20, 1922 at the age of 46 years, 7 months and 17 days.

He was united in marriage to Arthelia Kingery, Sept. 27, 1886. The union was blessed with three sons, Elmer and Henry of Jacksonville, Mo., and Guy, who is at home to care for his mother.

He was converted and joined the Evangelical church at Bethany about 25 years ago, later transferring to Fellowship Congregational, and was a faithful worker in church and Sunday school until confined to his bed a few weeks before his death.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, three children, six grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers and a large circle of relatives and friends. He spent his entire life in this neighborhood. He was a kind father and loving husband and commanded the friendship and respect of all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at Fellowship church, Jan. 22 at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Thompson. Interment in the Hamblin cemetery.

Lewis Berry who has been sick for quite awhile died Friday afternoon. The funeral services will be preached on Sunday morning at 11:00 O'clock at the Fellowship church.

Deck Aikins and wife came Sunday to attend the funeral of Lewis Berry and spent the remaining of the day with their daughter Mrs. Jim Braman.
