Death of Ben Hamilton

Ben Hamilton of Winterset, died this morning, as a result of paralysis, which as affected him for some time. Funeral services will probably he held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

Benjamin Franklin Hamilton was born in Henry county, Illinois, May 2, 1852. He came to Iowa with his parents when a young man and has been a resident of the state for over 50 years. He was married to Laura Keeler in 1890, and to this union five children were born: Merrill, Mrs. Pearl Smith, Earl, Cora, who died about two years ago, and Hazel. For the past eight years he made his home in Winterset and for the past two years has been in failing health.

On Monday he grew much worse and passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 25th, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 23 days. Earlier in life he had made a religious profession and was faithful in the church. Of his later days, he had recently joined the Pocket Testament League and was a daily reader of the New Testament, in which he found guidance and comfort.

He leaves to mourn his death, the wife, four children and other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted from the home on East Filmore street on Thursday by Rev. Jackson Giddens, after which the remains were buried in the Baptist cemetery north of town.
